NIGERIA'S FINEST AND MOST ECOLOGICALLY RESPONSIBLE

Specialization in organic and biologic cocoa productions

MOST COCOA TREES BEGIN TO YIELD PODS AT THE
PEAK PRODUCTION LEVELS BY THE FIFTH YEAR

Chocolate comes from the fruit of the cocoa tree, grown primarily in the hot, rainy climates of West Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. The ideal climate for growing cocoa is hot, rainy, and tropical, with lush vegetation to provide shade for the cocoa trees.

Most of the five to six million cocoa farms in the world are small, family-owned farms of between seven to ten acres. More than two million cocoa farmers in Central and West Africa depend on cocoa for their livelihoods.

Cocoa is still grown the way it was generations ago, but it is critical to make cocoa farming more attractive to future generations in order to ensure a future supply. The global chocolate and cocoa industry has been working for over a decade to create a sustainable cocoa supply chain that will improve incomes, alleviate poverty and advance food security.

COCOA IS A DELICATE AND SENSITIVE CROP

Farmers must protect trees from wind, sun, pests, and disease. With proper care, cocoa trees begin to yield pods at peak production levels by the fifth year, and they can continue at this level for ten years.

Abigrow understands the hazards of chemicals and its effects on our food products, that’s why we are committed to organic and biologic (chemical-free) agricultural products, and teaches other cocoa farmers to practice organic cocoa farming method.

We advocate the use of sustainable practices from start to finish. We don’t use any synthetic fertilizer or pesticides at any stage of our processes. This, to provide customers with the best fine aroma cacao and chocolate in Nigeria. Most cocoa trees begin to yield pods at peak production levels by  the fifth year, expect 20 to 50 seeds (or beans) per pod, depending on the variety of cocoa. Approximately 400 beans are required to make one pound of chocolate.
